Taking Notes
Taking notes in class is a skill that you must develop to be successful. Notes serve as study aids, reminders of content and concepts, and are essential for review and to connect topics together later on. Scientists, through experiments, have proven that memory and comprehension increase when you write things down. Hey, it's science! How can you argue with science?
You will take notes from the board, from powerpoints, videos, lectures, other students, readings, etc. Each of these require you to be engaged and paying attention while writing at the same time. I acknowledge that this can be difficult but the more you practice the better you will get. I will also be happy to tutor anyone interested in becoming a better note taker.

The Cornell System
I STRONGLY recommend the Cornell System for taking notes. I will teach this method in class and expect you to practice and master it. It really does help to keep notes organized and helps you prepare for class and review important content and concepts later on. I attached a better description on this system below.
